Hola, my name is Jacqueline. I first met Fran a couple of years ago when my Husband Conrad started to train with him for the Ironman. I could see how much support Fran gave Conrad and then witnessed the results firsthand as he achieved his goals.
I have watched many events and have always had so much respect for the athletes that take part and know how hard they have all worked to get to race day. Eventually I was curious and wondered if I could be one of those athletes and not the spectator!
I always enjoyed running but never really more than 5km and because of a knee injury I had not run for over 3 years. Conrad was always telling me to try open water swimming but I was adamant that I could never swim the front crawl so open water swimming was impossible.
This all changed when I went with Conrad to one of his meetings with Fran and mentioned I would like to swim. I left his office agreeing to join his swimming classes the following week!!

So for me it all began with my first pool swimming class in November 2014. Even though I was a good swimmer I could not swim the front crawl which is necessary for open water swimming. In the beginning I could not even swim 5 metres front crawl. In May the classes moved from the pool to the beach which, although hard work, I really enjoyed and then in August I took part in my first open water competition at San Gines with a distance of 1200 MT which I completed in 27 minutes. No one was more shocked with my finish time than myself. It felt fantastic!
A few months later I decided that maybe I should try to run again so I had a meeting with Fran and explained the problem with my knee. At the end of November 2015 I started to train with Fran with my goal being the 20km distance Music Marathon in Puerto del Carmen March 2016 which gave me 3 months to go from zero to 20km. I am extremely happy to say that I completed the Music Marathon a couple of weeks ago in 2 hours 16 minutes. I can’t thank Fran enough as not only has he helped me to run again but I surpassed all exceptions in my time.

So what next?? I am continuing to build up my strength and distance work running and my next objective is to complete a full marathon and with swimming I would like to take part in the Los Lobos to Corralejo open water later this year….and after that who knows??? With Frans encouragement I have already achieved more than I thought I could but this has now given me the appetite to push myself further knowing that I have the expertise and support to help me achieve my goals. If you have a dream….follow it 🙂 Thank you Fran x
